7th girls beat BGM, 34-8

The Montezuma Bravettes 7th grade basketball team hosted the BGM Bears JH team on Monday, Dec. 6.

The Bravettes jumped to a 15-0 lead using their strong defense and rebounding to frustrate the Bears. Both teams competed hard as the Bravettes won, 34-8.

The Bravettes shot 25% from the field going 13-53. The Bears were 3-35 for 9%. Monte out-rebounded the Bears 46-35. The Bravettes forced 33 turnovers while committing 22 of their own.

Vivian Cook dominated the perimeter with 16 points, 12 steals, 3 assists and 5 rebounds.

Sydnee Burgess had a versatile game with 9 points, 13 rebounds
and 3 blocks. Letisia Wilson was very active with 4 points, 8 rebounds and a block.

Rylee Wolford hustled all over to get 3 points, 5 rebounds and 4 steals. Leah Urfer had 2 points and 8 rebounds. Tegan Barnhart had 3 steals and a block.

Two extra quarters were played. Montezuma won 9-8. Rylee had 3 points. Tegan, Letisia and Lauren Daniels each had 2 points.

This was the 7th graders’ first game of the season. They host North Mahaska on 12/7 and travel to Pella Christian on 12/9
