7th girls beat Warhawks 28-13

The Montezuma Bravettes 7th grade girls basketball team hosted the North Mahaska Warhawks on Monday, January 9.

Montezuma jumped to a 10-2 lead in the first quarter. The Bravettes pushed the lead to 17-6 using a strong defense to stymie the Warhawks. The second half was a defensive battle by both teams. Montezuma wins 28-13.

Monte shot 11-47 (23%) from the field, 2-15 (13%) from the 3-point line and 4-20 (20%) from the free throw line.

North Mahaska shot 6-32 (18%) from the field, 0-2 from the 3-point line and 1-4 (25%) from the free throw line. The Warhawks edged the Bravettes in rebounds 38-37. Monte had 17 turnovers while forcing 33.

Lauryn Larmore filled all the columns on the stat sheet. She had 19 points with two 3-pointers, 5 rebounds, 8 steals and a block. Alexa Rose had a nice game with 5 points and 7 steals. Olivia Latcham had 2 points and 2 blocks. Sophia Semprini had 2 points. Ryanne Williams and Kelsie Mostek each had 5 rebounds. Emma Snook had a block.

The Montezuma Bravettes 7th graders move to 4-2 on the season. They travel to Baxter on Thursday, January 12.
