7th girls ‘defend’ North Mahaska, 36-16

The Bravettes team defense held the North Mahaska Warhawks in check throughout the first half only giving up one basket to lead 20-4 at halftime.

The second half was a battle as the Bravettes won, 36-16, in a seventh grade game at home on Tuesday, Dec. 7.

Montezuma shot 10-45 from the field and 16-25 on free throws. North Mahaska shot 7-34 from the field and 2-4 from the line.

Montezuma outrebounded North Mahaska 42-26.

There were many turnovers as the game was ragged at times. Monte had 24 and North Mahaska had 34.

Vivian Cook did a great job running the show. She scored 17 points with 8 rebounds and 5 steals.

Sydnee Burgess played strong with 6 points and 13 rebounds. Leah Urfer contributed many ways with 5 points, 7 rebounds, 3 steals and 4 blocks.

Rylee Wolford had 4 points and 4 steals. Tegan Barnhart had 2 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals.

Lauren Daniels had 2 points. Letisia Wilson had 3 steals.

The Bravettes remain undefeated. They travel to Pella Christian on Thursday, Dec. 9.
