7th girls fall short at PC, 32-27

The Montezuma Bravette 7th grade girls basketball team traveled to Pella Christian to face a talented Eagle squad on December 12.

The Bravettes fell behind 7-0 early and trailed 11-6 at the end of the 1st quarter.

The Bravettes held their own in the 2nd quarter but still trailed 17-12 at the half. Monte struggled to score in the 3rd and was behind 25-16 heading to the final quarter.

The Bravettes rallied back to cut the lead to one point late in the game but eventually fell, 32-27, to the Eagles.

The Bravettes shot 11-49 for 22%. The Eagles were 14-42 for 33%. The taller Eagles won the rebound battle 43-30. The Bravettes were stronger taking care of the ball with 13 turnovers compared to PC’s 24.

Ellen Cook was a stat stuffer with 15 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 7 steals and 3 blocks. Shiressa Wetering battled the tall front line of the Eagles to get 12 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocks. Harlea Pargeon had 6 rebounds. Ava Pargeon had 4 steals and 2 blocks.
