7th girls hit their stride in second quarter of win

The Montezuma Bravettes 7th grade girls basketball team hosted Colfax-Mingo on Monday, November 28.

The Bravettes started slowly, missing numerous shots in the first quarter but still had an 8-3 lead at the buzzer.

The second quarter was the Bravettes’ best quarter of the season as they outscored the Tigerhawks 22-1 to hold a 30-4 lead at halftime.

Monte continued with a nice 2nd half to win 50-14.

The Bravettes shot 24-61 for 39%. Colfax was 6-30 for 20%. Monte won the battle of the boards 36-28. Colfax had 36 turnovers while Monte had 19.

Alexa Rose was all over the floor. She had 20 points, 8 rebounds, 5 steals and a block.

Lauryn Larmore only played the first half but she was a stat stuffer. She had 12 points, 8 rebounds, and 12 steals. Ryanne Williams had a nice game with 6 points, 5 steals and a block.

Olivia Latcham had 4 points. Sophia Semprini had 2 points and a block. Emma Snook had 2 points.

The Montezuma Bravettes 7th grade moves to 1-1 on the season. They host Pella Christian on Thursday at 515.
