When the Montezuma Bravette 7th graders traveled to Sully to face the Hawks, it was a battle of two of the top teams in the South Iowa Cedar League. And the Bravettes prevailed, 27-16, on Monday, Dec. 13.

Both teams started slow offensively as Monte took a 4-3 lead at the
end of the first. The Bravettes stretched their lead to 12-6 at halftime.

Montezuma had a big 3rd quarter to take a 23-10 lead as the Bravette defense and transition game took over.

The Bravettes shot 11-44 for 25%. The Hawks were 7-38 for 18%. The taller Hawks out-rebounded the Bravettes, but only by four (40-36).

The Bravettes forced Lynnville-Sully into 23 turnovers while only having 12 of their own.

Vivian Cook filled the stat sheet. She had 13 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals.

Sydnee Burgess was very active with 6 points, 7 rebounds and 4 steals. Leah Urfer did a nice job in the lane. She had 4 points & 6
rebounds. A hustling Rylee Wolford had 2 points and 4 steals.

Lauren Daniels made a big basket at the end of the first half. Letisia
Wilson played good defense with 3 steals and a block. Tegan Barnhart also hustled all over for 8 rebounds.

The 7th grade moves to 3-1 on the season. They play at Keota on Dec. 15.
