7th grade girls beat BGM 29-15

The Montezuma Bravettes 7th grade girls basketball team hosted the BGM Bears on Monday, December 4.

The Bravettes jumped on the Bears early shooting out to a 9-3 lead. The Bears had their best quarter in the second as they cut the lead to 14-9 at the half. The Bravettes pushed back in the 3rd taking a 23-11 lead to the 4th quarter and winning 29-15.

Both teams shot almost the same percentage from the field with Monte making 12-42 for 29% and BGM shooting 7-25 (28%). Monte made 1 out of 4 from long distance while BGM was 0-3.

Monte went 4-13 (31%) from the free throw line while BGM was 1-8 (13%). BGM won the rebound battle 33-24. Monte dominated the turnover battle 30-11.

Brielle Haughey led the way with 11 points, 8 rebounds and 6 steals. Kady Schmidt scored 7 points. Mallory Warden had 5 points including a 3-pointer and 5 steals. Brylee Latcham had 4 points. Lily Moyer had 2 points. Gertie Lally had a block.

The Montezuma Bravette 7th graders move to 3-1 on the season. They travel to Marengo to play Iowa Valley on Thursday, December 7.
