SULLY – Montezuma battled tough for a while, but wound up on the short end of a 44-20 scores in junior high ‘B’ boys basketball on Monday, Dec.
Here are quotes from Coach John Beck:
“The boys hung tough in the first half against a bigger Hawks squad. Defensively, we had to handle their big center. I thought Isaac Wedgewood and Briar Simpson did a great job in the first half.
Our guards did a good job helping on him too. Luke Erselius, Broox Stockman, and Luke Brennan did a great job with on-ball pressure. They forced a lot of turnovers and forced the Hawks into some tough decisions.
Lars Taylor, Cade Stone, and Jusiah Wetering did a good job rebounding. We again need to work on our help defense and making sure we are in the right position.
Offensively, Broox did a great job getting downhill. Blake Smith, Spencer Ross, and Luke Brennan did a good job at making themselves available for the kick-out. We had a lot of open looks and really got some good shots that hopefully will fall in the next time. We need to work on moving the ball around and spacing.
Overall, this group hung tough and grew a lot against a good Lynnville-Sully team.”
Scoring:
Broox Stockman- 10
Spencer Ross – 6
Blake Smith – 3
Luke Brennan- 2
Briar Simpson- 1
