Montezuma put two players in double figures as the eighth grade ‘A’ basketball team beat North Mahaska 70-24 on Tuesday, Dec. 7.
Brady Boulton scored 27 points – three more than the Warhawks’ entire team – and Broox Stockman scored 16.
“The Braves started fast and continued throughout the game,” said Coach Dennis Phelps. “The press jump-started the team and set the tone.”
“Multiple players contributed in the scoring column and at the defensive end of the court,” Phelps said.
Dane Strong scored 8 points, Rhett Pargeon and Luke Erselius each had 6, Isaac Wedgewood and Luke Brennan had 2 each and Casey DeZwarte had one.
Phelps said Erselius led in rebouding.
Boulton made nine two-point baskets and three from behind the arc.
Phelps also complimented Stockman’s work around the basket and in running the floor.
Montezuma led 41-11 at halftime.
