The Montezuma Bravette 8th graders hosted the Keota Eagles and their iconic coach, Jenny Hobbs on Tuesday, Dec.15.
The Eagles are always physical and well-coached. The Bravettes countered with tenacious defense and aggressiveness at both ends of the floor.
Monte led 6-2 after one quarter and 16-4 at the half. The Bravettes extended their lead by up to 20 points in the 2nd half and won, 36-20.
Monte shot 17-62 for 27%. Keota was 8-36 for 22%. The Bravettes slightly won the rebound battle 39-36. Monte had 15 turnovers while forcing 30.
Shiressa Wetering dominated the paint with 11 points, 12 rebounds & 3 blocks. Ellen Cook tortured the Keota guards. She had 9 points, 4 assists and 11 steals.
Harlea Pargeon had a solid game with 6 points & 9 rebounds. Madison Cheney had 4 points. Ava Pargeon, Kylee Larmore & Lizzy DeJong each had 2 points.
The Bravettes move to 2-0 on the season. They play on Tuesday, December 22 at Williamsburg.
