The Montezuma Bravette 8th graders have had a crazy start to their 2020 season.
The girls had 7 practices then 3 weeks of no practice and then 2 practices before hosting Lynnville-Sully on Monday, Dec. 14.
Both teams looked like they needed more practice. But, they were glad to be finally playing a game. The Bravettes dominated the Hawks, jumping to a 37-1 lead. The Hawks got 3 late baskets to make the final score 41-7.
Montezuma was 20-61 shooting for 33%. Sully was 3-14 for 21%. Both teams were 1-2 from the line. The Bravettes won the boards 33-19. The Bravettes forced 37 turnovers while having 11 of their own.
Shiressa Wetering dominated inside the paint with 8-9 shooting for 17 points & 3 steals. Ellen Cook led from the outside she scored 10 points. Ellen also had 5 steals, 3 assists & a block.
Charlie Lowry had 4 points & 6 rebounds. Harlea Pargeon had 4 points. Kylee Larmore hit a long jumper to start the scoring and had 2 points. Madison Cheney had 2 points and led the team with 9 rebounds. Taya Sincox had 2 points & 3 steals. Ava Pargeon had 7 steals.
The Bravettes are 1-0 on the season. Most home games are live streamed from the school website.
