8th girls finish 11-1 with 40-7 win

MARENGO – The Montezuma Bravette 8th grade girls basketball team traveled to Marengo to face Iowa Valley on Monday, Jan. 24 in their final game of their junior high careers.

The Bravettes jumped to a 12-0 lead to start the game and led 14-2 at the end of the quarter. Monte pushed the lead to 26-2 at the half. The final score was Bravettes 40 and Tigers 7.

Monte shot 18-57 for 32% from the field, 2-13 from long distance and 2-4 from the free line. Iowa Valley shot 2-15 for 13% and 3-8 from the free throw line.

Monte dominated the boards 36-19. The Bravettes had 7 turnovers
while forcing 25.

Claire Erselius led the way with 17 points on 8-13 shooting including a
3-pointer. She also had 6 rebounds and 8 steals.

Lily Ferry had her best game of the season with 8 points and 9 rebounds. Haileah Eichenberger hit a 3-pointer and scored 5 points.

Lindsey Henry had 3 points and 5 rebounds.

Chloe Snook, Krista Cheney & Kieren Perez each had 2 points. Kami Mathes made a free throw.

The Montezuma Bravette A-team/8th grade finishes an excellent season with an 11-1 record. They defeated all South Iowa Cedar League opponents with their only loss to Pella Christian.
