The Montezuma Bravettes 8th graders beat North Mahaska 50-17 at home on Tuesday, Dec. 7.
Last year when they played in January, the Bravettes won 24-13 in a hard-fought game.
This year, the Bravettes jumped out to 13-2 lead at the end of the first quarter.
After Makenna Warden hit a bank shot at the halftime buzzer, after a pinpoint pass from Claire Erselius, Monte led 27-6.
The second half was more of the same as the Bravettes pulled away, 50-17.
Montezuma was 19-45 from the field for 42%. This includes 4-5 from three point range and 8-9 on free throws. North Mahaska was 5-33 for 15%. They were 0-1 from long distance and 7-11 on free throws.
The Bravettes won the battle of the boards 35-21. Monte forced 26 turnovers while having 21.
Claire Erselius had the HOT hand from 3-point range, going 4-5. She also was 5-6 from the free throw line scoring 19 points with 3 steals.
Lindsey Henry played a tremendous overall game as she stuffed all the stats. She had 9 points, 8 rebounds, 7 steals, 4 assists and 2 blocks.
Makenna Warden shot well with 8 points. Chloe had 4 points and 8 rebounds. Haileah Eichenberger made 2 jumpers for 4 points with 4 assists.
Kieran Perez also had 2 nice jumpers for 4 points. Lily Ferry hustled her way to 2 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 blocks.
The Montezuma 8th/A-team moves to 3-0 on the season. They travel to Pella Christian on Thursday, Dec. 9.
