NEW SHARON – The Montezuma eighth grade volleyball team scored a 2-1 over North Mahaska on Thursday, Sept. 15, on the road.
Meanwhile, the seventh graders managed to win one of three sets.
8th grade – 18-25, 25-18, 25-15
“The girls started slow in the first set, but were able to regroup and start putting things together,” Coach Megan Carlson said.
“The girls made it much harder than it needed to be, but I know they will grow from this experience,” she said.
“Junior high sports are a great time to develop as teammates and competitors. These girls have a great deal of talent and I am excited to watch them continue to grow and put more of it together,” Carlson said.
7th grade – 23-25, 17-25, 25-23
“The seventh grade squad had a tough go with a strong North Mahaska team, but they stayed together and pushed each other,” the coach said.
“The growth in only a few weeks is amazing,” Carlson said. “They have learned so much about the game and understand what it takes to be successful as a team.”
“I know everyone is excited about a great Homecoming game and getting back to work next week,” she said.
