A girls down Belle Plaine, 28-13

The Montezuma Bravettes A-team traveled to Belle Plaine to face the Plainsmen on Tuesday, Dec. 10.

The Bravettes started very slow and trailed 5-2 with seconds remaining in the first quarter when Brylee Latcham found Gertie Lally who splashed a long 2-pointer at the buzzer.

Monte took the lead for good early in the second quarter when Kady Schmidt got a power point to make the score 6-5. Monte had their best quarter in the second as they outscored BP 17-4 to take a 21-9 lead to the half.

The Bravettes shut out the Plainsmen in the third quarter to take a 26-9 lead. The Bravettes struggled to score in the 4th quarter but controlled the game to win 28-13.

Monte shot 11-57 (19%) from the field, 2-19 from the 3-point line and 4-8 from the free throw line. Belle Plaine shot 6-28 (23%) from the field, 0-2 from long distance and 1-5 from the free throw line. Monte held a three rebound advantage 38-35. The Bravettes had 15 turnovers while forcing 33 on BP.

Eight Bravettes scored in the game. Brielle Haughey scored 6 points, had 8 rebounds and 2 blocks. Mallory Warden hit two 3-point shots for 6 points and had 3 steals. Brylee Latcham had 4 points, 7 assists and 8 steals.

Kady Schmidt had 4 points and a blocked shot. Baylea Smith had her best game with 2 points, 8 rebounds and a block. Lilly Bushong had 2 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Keegan Gunderson had 2 points and a block. Gertie Lally had 2 points.

The Montezuma Bravettes A-team moved to 4-2 on the season.
