The Montezuma Bravettes A-team hosted the BGM Bears on Monday, November 24. Both teams pressed and it turned into a defensive battle.
Monte jumped to an 8-6 lead at the end of the first quarter. Lexi Urfer had 5 first quarter points and Lucy Semprini had 3. But the Bravettes did not score in the second quarter as BGM took the lead 11-8 at halftime.
Monte did not score again in the third quarter, but the Bears would only score two to extend their lead to 13-8.
BGM hit some key baskets to extend their lead to 17-11 with 4 minutes remaining. Montezuma’s furious rally would come up short. The final was 19-15.
Montezuma went 4-21 on two-point shots, 2-14 from beyond the arc, and 1-6 from the line. BGM countered with 8-40 on two-pointers, 0-1 on three-pointers, and 3-8 on free throws.
The Bravettes edged the Bears on the boards 35-32. The Bravettes committed 24 turnovers, and the Bears had 18 turnovers.
Lexi Urfer had her best game of the season. Lexi had 10 points and 6 rebounds.
Lucy Semprini had a solid game. Lucy got 3 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists. Aubree DeJoode had 2 points.
The B-team played 2 quarters vs BGM. The Bears won 15-1. Elise Mathes hit a free throw for the Bravettes.
Up next, the Bravettes went to Keota on Tuesday.
