The Montezuma Bravettes A-team hosted the Iowa Valley Tigers on Thursday, December 12.
The Bravettes would start quickly using slick passes and good shooting. This led to a 12-2 lead at the end of the quarter and 20-5 at halftime.
Monte used the long shot to score in the third quarter to outscore IV 11-2. Iowa Valley would rally for 6 late points to outscore Monte in the 4th. The final score was 37-14.
Monte shot 17-40 (43%) from the field, 3-10 from long range and 0-2 from the free throw line. Iowa Valley shot 6-40 (15%) from the field, 0-1 from long range and 2-16 from the free throw line. Monte out-rebounded the Tigers 36-28. Each team had 18 turnovers.
Brielle Haughey had another big game. She had 17 points while shooting 8-11 (73%) from the field including 1-1 on 3-pointers. Bri also had 10 rebounds, 3 assists, 6 steals, and 2 blocks.
Kady Schmidt had a strong game with 6 points, 5 rebounds and 3 blocks. Baylea Smith had a season high 6 points. Brylee Latcham had a 3-pointer and 6 assists. Mallory Warden also had a 3-pointer. Gertie Lally had 2 points. Keegan Gunderson had 8 rebounds.
The Montezuma Bravettes A-team moves to 5-2 on the season. They hosted Lynnville-Sully on Monday, December 16.
