A-team girls lose a tough one, 38-32

The Montezuma Bravettes junior high girls A-team traveled to Sully to face the Lynnville-Sully Hawks.

The Hawks have one of the stronger junior high girls team in the SICL conference. The home team jumped all over the Bravettes in the first quarter taking a 11-2 lead at the end of the first.

Monte fought back in the second, outscoring the Hawks 12-8 in the quarter as LS had a 19-14 lead at halftime.

The second half was back and forth as the Hawks won the third quarter 10-7. Monte’s rally in the 4th quarter fell short as they lost 38-32.

Monte shot 11-38 (29%) from the field, 7-14 (50%) from behind the arc and 3-6 (50%) from the free throw line. Lynnville-Sully shot well going 15-34 (44%) from the field and 8-10 (80%) from the free throw line. The Hawks won the rebound battle by 2 (24-22). They were also 2 better on turnovers (10-8).

Lauryn Larmore led the way with 21 points including four 3-pointers with 3 assists. Alexa Rose made three triples for 9 points. Sophia Semprini had 2 points, 6 rebounds and 1 block. Ryanne Williams had a block.

The Montezuma Bravettes A-team falls to 3-4 on the season. They will take a break for the Christmas holiday and then play their next game on January 8 at North Mahaska.
