The Montezuma Bravettes A-team hosted the North Mahaska Warhawks on Monday, December 1. Both teams played aggressive man to man defense.
North Mahaska did a good job of breaking the Bravettes’ press. This allowed the Warhawks to jump to a 9-4 lead at the end of the first quarter and 23-8 lead at halftime.
North Mahaska’s size also gave the Bravettes problems as the Warhawks extended the lead in the second half. The final score was 39-12.
Montezuma went 4-28 on two-point shots, 0-2 from beyond the arc, and 4-8 from the line. NM countered with 17-46 on two-pointers, 0-1 on three-pointers, and 5-9 on free throws.
The Warhawks hurt the Bravettes on the boards 36-24. The Bravettes committed 25 turnovers, and the Warhawks had 18.
Alyssa Latcham had her best game of the season. Latch scored 6 points with 9 rebounds. Lexi Urfer had 5 points and 2 blocks. Karley Eichenberger made a free throw for 1 point.
Aubree DeJoode had 5 rebounds and a block. Abby Bos had 3 steals and a block. Lucy Semprini had 3 steals. Teagan Sutherland had 5 rebounds.
The Bravettes fall to 0-6 on the season. They host Colfax on Monday, December 8.
