IOWA CITY – Shateah Wetering, a University of Iowa sophomore from Montezuma, has been sidelined by an injury for the upcoming basketball season.
University of Iowa Coach Lisa Bluder reported that Wetering suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) behind one of her knees, during a Hawkeye practice last week.
“Shateah was having a terrific preseason when she suffered this injury,” Bluder said. “She was playing confidently and stood out as one of our most improved players from last season.”
“Shateah will use this year to rehab, learn from a coach’s perspective and be an active teammate for her sisters on the team.”
Wetering played in seven games last season, averaging three minutes, and tallying five points and four rebounds.
