Another good start by Braves, but . . .

NEW SHARON – It was another good start – but not so good a finish for the baseball Braves against North Mahaska on Tuesday evening, May 31.

The Braves took a 2-0 lead in the 2nd inning, and the game was tied 2-2 heading into the bottom of the sixth.

But the Warhawks erupted for 10 runs in the sixth, and scored a 12-2 victory.

Jack Erselius got a hit in the second inning, and was one of two runners that scored behind Briar Simpson’s 2-RBI single.

Owen Cook pitched two and one-third innings for the Braves and struck out five.

Carsten James worked three innings on the mound as well.

Montezuma’s offense added four walks, a hit batter and a sacrifice bunt to its total of three hits. The Braves reached twice on errors.

But North Mahaska stolen bases led to an avalanche in the sixth inning.

The Braves fell to 0-4 on the season. North Mahaska went to 4-2.

UP NEXT – The Braves will go at it again Wednesday night, June 1, at HLV.
