BROOKLYN – Going back-to-back for the first two games of the season can be a challenge, add in missing several girls for XC, and a road game, and it turns into a tough outing for the JH VB girls on Tues., Sept. 9.
The 8th-grade team started strong, but was unable to contend with BGM’s strong net vision.
We need to focus on covering our portions of the court and not just waiting for the ball to come to us. They are growing so much and learning so many new things about the game, but now the biggest focus will be on drive.
The 8th-grade team has the skills to do amazing things on the court, and I know they will be able to put it together.
The 7th-grade team was missing several girls due to XC, and they were out of sorts against a scrappy BGM team. They struggled with serve receive and being able to stay focused with the plays on the court.
These girls have gone from zero to sixty in two short weeks, and I know they are working hard to take in so much information. They need to continue to work to stay involved with the points and work to cover the court.
It was not the night we wanted for either of the squads, but we had several bright moments as well. We will continue to work on court coverage and awareness as the week progresses.
I am blessed to have these great young girls I get to coach
8th grade: 16-21, 19-21, 2-5.
7th grade: 14-21, 6-21, 8-15.
