DES MOINES – The track was fast.

And so were the runners, as Montezuma’s athletes found out on Friday, May 23, which was Day Two of the Class 1A State Track Meet on Drake’s famed Blue Oval.

None of Montezuma’s athletes will be running in a final on Saturday, but all three of the MHS relays team were competitive.

And the girls were especially so.

Montezuma ran again a couple hours later in the 4×100 relays. This one. A prelim, was even closer. The Bravettes clocked 51.67 seconds, another season’s best. But, they needed 51.24 in order to make Saturday’s finals.

As it was, they placed 13th. Runners were Lily Ferry, Syd Burgess, Ryanne Williams and Chloe Snook.

The boys in the 4×100 prelims ran in the early evening.
