A 13-3 scoring margin in the second quarter keyed a 29-21 Lynnville-Sully win over Montezuma in junior high ‘B’ boys basketball action on the Braves’ court on Monday, Dec. 16.
The teams were tied 6-6 after one quarter, but the scoring burst left the Hawks up 19-9 at halftime. The Braves outscored Lynnville-Sully 12-10 during the second half.
“Defensively, we did a good job and held them to thee single-digit quarters,” said Montezuma Coach John Beck. “We applied a lot of pressure and caused a lot of turnovers,” he said.
Carter Mickalek led the Braves with 10 points. David Rose had seven, while Kohen Holland and Peyton Minner scored two each.
“Offensively, we attacked the basket well and our shot selection was good,” Beck said. “We need to work on moving without the ball and finishing at the hoop.”
