MONTEZUMA – The softball and baseball games between Keota and Montezuma had almost identical themes.
Keota dominated both and won by one-sided scores.
Keota also had control pitchers who walked few and mixed in an occasional strikeout pitch.
In baseball, Keota was an 11-1 winner. The Eagles had a 6-0 lead through five innings then plated five runs in the sixth.
Keota outhit the Braves 14-3.
For Montezuma, Luke Erselius had one hit and a stolen base.
Broox Stockman also had one hit and a stolen base, but scored the Braves’ only run.
Isaac Wedgewood had a hit and Ty Smothers drove in Montezuma’s run with a sacrifice.
Three Braves climbed the hill. Isaac Wedgewood threw 3.2 innings, allowed 7 hits and 6 runs, five of them earned. He walked 3 and struck out 7.
Gavin Wilcox threw 1.2 innings, gave up 7 hits and 5 runs, all earned. He walked 2 and fanned to.
And Easton Hudnut worked two-thirds of an inning.
The Braves and Keota were both 2-2 after the game.
