BROOKLYN – The BGM girls scored eight runs in the first inning, then played add-on as needed in a 12-7 softball win over Montezuma on Monday, June 24.
Montezuma’s tendency to hit the ball well continued – 12 hits – but the Bears more than matched that with 15.
The Bravettes threw in 8 errors, which didn’t help them catch up in runs.
Mya Smothers paced the Bravette offense with three hits, including a double, three runs batted in and a stolen base.
Lauryn Larmore had 3 hits and a stolen base.
Ellen Cook had 2 hits, including a double.
Kam Schmidt had a hit and a stolen base.
Syd Burgess had an RBI-single.
Getting one single each were Chloe Snook and Madison Van Zee.
Burgess pitched the six inning distance. Of the 12 runs scored against her, only 5 were earned. She walked two and struck out 2.
Six BGM players had two or more hits.
BGM moved to 11-8 with this win.
Montezuma fell to 8-8.
