Bears put on hitting shoes, 20-4

English Valleys and Montezuma were cruising along in a one-run softball game, when suddenly the Bears’ offense erupted.

English Valleys scored seven runs in the fourth inning, then 12 in the fifth, and took a 20-4 softball victory over the Bravettes at home on Friday evening, June 11.

The Bears led 1-0 after three innings. And, after English Valleys scored its seven in the fourth, the Bravettes came back with four in

the bottom half of the frame.

But English Valleys just kept going, rapping out 18 hits in all.

Kallie Robison had one hit and a run battled in for the Bravettes. Jadyn Sharer and Laila Kercheval each had a hit.

Katie Reynolds didn’t get a hit, but had a sacrifice and drove in three of Montezuma’s four runs.

Four English Valleys players had three hits each. Clara Mews drove in four runs, and Kennedy Axmear hit a home run.

Robison pitched 4.2 innings, giving up 18 hits and 20 runs, five of them earned. She walked three and struck out five.

Abby Pope pitched the final one-third on an inning, recording a strikeout.

The Bravettes fell to 4-11 overall and 1-6 in league play.

The Bears went to 5-5 overall, but a respectable 5-2 against the league.
