Best for Chloe, but MHS bunch falls in prelims

DES MOINES – Montezuma’s four short distance sprinters ran good times – including a personal best by Chloe Snook – but none were able to get past the preliminaries in Thursday’s first day of the Class 1A State Track Meet

Snook, competing in the 200-meter dash, clocked her lifetime best of 26.60 seconds. But, that ranked 14th out of 24. To advance, she needed 26.27.

Later in the day, Snook posted a 12.95 clocking in the 100. But again, she was 14th fastest, and needed 12.72.

Two Braves competed in the 100 prelims in the afternoon.

David Rose ran an 11.46 100 – again, 14th best. He needed 11.20 in order to made the finals.

The Braves’ Broox Stockman clocked 11.63 – 19th best. He needed that same 11.20 in order to make the finals.

ON FRIDAY

It will be relays for boys and girls on Friday, May 23.

The boys will attempt to qualify in the 4×100 prelims at 6:40 p.m.

For the girls, it will be finals in the 4×200 – you get just one race in the 4×200, and they rate them 1-24 after it’s over. That race will start at 4:40 p.m.

The girls also have a prelim in the 4×100, and that one starts at 6:20 p.m.
