BROOKLYN â BGM used some late game productivity in an 8-2 varsity softball win over the Bravettes on Wednesday, June 23.
BGM took a 2-0 lead into the fourth inning, but the Bravettes scored their two runs to tie the score.
The Bears plated three in their half of the fifth, and cruised in.
BGM outhit Montezuma 14-6 and that ability to keep the line moving was crucial.
It was a crisply-played game from a defensive standpoint, with one error by the Bravettes the only one in the contest.
Katie Reynolds was two-for-three for Montezuma, driving home both Montezuma runs with a double. She also had a stolen base.
Izzy Roorda was two-for-four and Kallie Robison was two for three.
Jordan Ranfeld had a stolen base.
Five players had two hits each for BGM, which also went five-for-five in stolen bases.
Isabelle Austin was in the middle of everything for the Bears. She drove in two runs with two hits. She also pitched, scattering Montezuma’s hits.
Austin threw all seven innings, allowing two runs, both earned. She walked four and struck out three.
Robison pitched all six frames for the Bravettes. She allowed eight runs, all earned. She didn’t walk a batter and fanned one.
The Bravettes fell to 8-14 overall, including 4-8 in SICL play.
BGM stood at 8-10 and 6-6.
UP NEXT â Montezuma was scheduled to play at Colfax-Mingo on Thursday evening, June 24. Starting time was moved up to 5:30 p.m., and it was to be a varsity-only game.
