SULLY – The Bravettes had offense when it was most needed, and scored a 12-4 softball victory over Lynnville-Sully on Friday, June 27.
When it was most needed was the seventh inning, which turned out to be a 10-run scoring outburst by the Bravettes.
Montezuma scored two runs in the second inning. It stayed that way until the Hawks put up four in the fourth.
And, it stayed THAT way until the Bravettes had their big inning in the seventh.
Chloe Snook had two hits, scored three runs and drove in a run for Montezuma.
Vivian Cook had two hits, a stolen base and two RBIs.
Ellen Cook had two hits and one RBI.
Syd Burgess drew a base on balls that drove in a run.
Lauryn Larmore had one hit and two runs batted in.
Lily Ferry had one hit.
Montezuma was guilty of four errors, while the Hawks made two.
Leah Urfer went all 7 innings in the pitching circle. She allowed eight hits and four runs, none of them earned. She walked one and struck out four.
Kate Harthoorn and two hits and a stolen base for the Hawks.
Peyton Sharp had two hits and a run batted in. Olivia Norrish had a hit, a stolden base and an RBI.
Emma Johnson had a hit and a run batted in.
Katelyn Nikkel had a stolen base.
Harthoorn pitched 6.0 innings, gave up 8 hits and 10 runs, 9 of them earned.
Emma Johnson pitched 1.0 innings, allowed 2 hits and two runs, both earned. She walked two and didn’t record a strikeout.
Montezuma jumped to 5-10 with the win.
Lynnville-Sully fell to 8-14.
