“Let Freedom Ring” was moved to Saturday, Sept. 5, when the Montezuma Community Boosters met in June.
“Let Freedom Ring” is the community’s July 4 celebration.
Several other events have been moved to Sept. 5 date or weekend, including the Montezuma Lions’ Club’s chicken barbecue, Montezuma High School’s homecoming and several class reunions.
It’s also Labor Day weekend.
Board of Supervisors member Diana Dawley reported that the courthouse is now open to the public, with safety regulations for COVID-19 being observed.
Dawley said there had been no coronavirus among courthouse employees during the quarantine time.
The county treasurer’s office will be open to one person at a time, by appointment. Each person will be allowed one hour of meeting time.
The sheriff’s office reported the jail is open for prisoner visitation.
Also, the county auditor’s office has returned to regular hours.
Deb Ver Meer reported that Vannoy Chevrolet was able to remain open for regular service, with no employee illnesses.
Loren Elliott reported his business, “Windmill Lane Boarding Kennel”, was returning to normal after several slow weeks.
Montezuma Floral will celebrate its second anniversary on June 28, with some special buys.
Also noted was the Montezuma High School graduation, which was held June 21.
