SULLY – Montezuma’s junior high volleyball teams both went 3-0 in matches against Lynnville-Sully on Tuesday, Sept. 14.
The eighth graders won on scores of 27-25, 25-18 and 25-15.
“Lynnville-Sully has a strong-serving eighth grade team,” Montezuma Coach Megan Carlson said.
“The girls had to battle in many different situations, including that tight first set (27-25) finish,” Carlson said.
“I love it when the girls have some great competition. When we can have moments that require us to work together and overcome obstacles, that is only going to make us better in the future,” the coach said.
“After that first set, the girls set the tone and were able to close out the Hawks.”
The seventh graders won on scores of 25-6, 25-7 and 25-13.
“The seventh graders led with some solid serving and ball movement,” Carlson said. “This group continues to grow with communication and overall volleyball skills.”
“They are having more and more moments when the pieces are being put together,” Carlson said, “and that is so exciting to watch.”
