The Bravettes have been consistent of late.

Thirteen Montezuma players got in the game – all contributed something – as the Braveettes beat BGM for the 13th straight time.

Guard Mia Boulton splashed down eight three-point baskets in 11 attempts as Montezuma shot past BGM, 62-9, in varsity girls basketball at home on Friday evening, Dec. 10.

Boulton finished with those 24 points as the Bravettes led 46-7 at halftime, and 60-7 after pitching a defensive shutout in the third quarter.

Shanae Wetering scored 16 points and pulled down eight rebounds for Montezuma. Ellen Cook scored seven points.

Then, there’s Madison Johannes, Montezuma’s 5-3 junior guard, who is just one rebound away from being the Bravettes’ second-leading rebounder – for the season.

Johannes scored three points, but also had six steals, three assists, and a blocked shot, leading the team in this game in each category. She had four rebounds, second to Shanae Wetering’s eight in that department.

The Bravettes took their record to 6-0 overall and to 4-0 in South Iowa Cedar League play.

BGM fell to 0-5 and 0-4.

UP NEXT – The Montezuma girls and boys have an important league doubleheader on Tuesday, at home, against strong North Mahaska teams.
