BROOKLYN – Brady Boulton poured in 35 points as Montezuma beat BGM 51-28 on Monday, Dec. 6, in the first junior high boys basketball ‘A’ game of the season.
“We got off to a good start, then hit a three-minute scoring drought in the middle of the second quarter,” said Montezuma Coach Dennis Phelps.
The Braves led 27-16 at halftime. “BGM continued to battle,” Phelps said. “During the second half, we increased our lead, then BGM got a couple easy scores off in-bounds play with their post offense.”
The Braves adjusted and outscored BGM 24-12 in the second half to take the 23-point victory.
Boulton scored his 35 points on 11 two-point baskets, two from three-point range, and by going 7-for-8 from the free throw line.
Broox Stockman and Dane Strong each scored 6 points, and Isaac Wedgewood and Rhett Pargeon had two points each.
“This was a good first game to discover areas that were strengths and especially areas that we need to improve on,” Phelps said.
“It was a joy to coach my first game at Montezuma after spending years at other schools,” the coach said.
