Thunder rolled from throwing areas as Montezuma’s throwers made statements at the Darrell Brand Relays on Monday, May 9.

Nik Kotar and Kennen Roadcap made their best throws of the season and finished in first and third places, respectively.

Kotar’s heave was 43 feet, 10 inches, his first beyond 40 feet.

Roadcap’s toss was 41-8.

Roadcap also threw 105-5 in the discus to place third.

Combined with more continued good efforts by the rest of the team, it added up to 92.5 team points and a third place finish in a six-team field.

Sixteen Braves scored team points in this meet.

Jayden Ross and Carter McKee scored heavily by finishing two-four in the 3,200-meter run. Ross clocked 13:00.62, and McKee was in at 13:06.36.

Eli Bustamante and Garrett Watts finished two-four in the high jump. Bustamante cleared 5-4 and Watts was over at 5-1.

The Braves scored in every relay. Their best finish was second in the 4×800, by Colton Benson, Kohen Holland, Peter Roberts and Jusiah Wetering. Their time was 10:42.05.
