Boys track team continues improvement

EDDYVILLE – Momentum continued to build for the Montezuma boys track team, which scored 122 points and a third place team finish in the Class B portion of the Ike Ryan Relays on Tuesday, April 25.

The boys really competed well and took advantage of the nice weather,” said Braves Coach John Beck. “We had four individual personal records and six season best relay times.”

Garrett Watts and Eli Bustamante continue to improve in the high jump,” Beck said.

Watts placed second at 5 feet, 8.5 inches and Bustamante was third at 5 feet, 6.5 inches.

Both are very dedicated to it, and the results are staring to show,” the coach said.

The group of Bryson Stockman, David Rose, Jack Erselius and Carter Michalek seems to mesh pretty well as they continue to improve their times,” the coach said. “They are all young guys, but they just want to compete and get better. I am excited to see what they can do the next two weeks.”

Jayden Ross had a really good night for us,” Beck said. “He cut 40 seconds in the 3,200 and 20 seconds in the 1,600 from his previous bests.”

Brett Plants continues to be a leader for our hurdles crew,” the coach said. “The group continues to have great work ethic and attention to detail as they work on their craft.”

Again, I am very happy with how everyone ran and the boys are eager to get out there and improve,” Beck said.

UP NEXT – The Braves have picked up a meet and will be joining Montezuma’s girls at the Grundy Center met on Friday, April 29.
