BROOKLYN – The Braves and Bravettes golfers kept their fires burning bright on a very chilly and windy Thursday afternoon, April 20, at the Brooklyn-Victor Country Club.
They did so by turning in some winning scores against BGM and North Tama.
Montezuma’s boys won with a 153-stroke total. BGM and North Tama shot 174 and 190, respectively.
Montezuma’s Cruz De Jong was meet medalist with a 35, followed by Max Anderson at 37.
“The boys continue to challenge and spur each other on,” said Montezuma Coach Liesl Roorda.
“Unfortunately, with the wind, a couple players had encounters with trees and out of bounds early on,” Roorda said. “But they still pressed on to finish the round strong.”
In girls’ play, Abby Pope was meet runner-up, shooting a 52. She was edged out by just one stroke by a BGM player and a North Tama golfer who carded 51.
“Next up for the boys is the Hal Rossow Invite at Lake Panorama on Saturday, April 22. It’s a wonderful opportunity to compete over 18 holes against some great teams from multiple classes,” Roorda said.
“Unfortunately, the weather looks to be frigid and windy, but we’re sure the boys will use this opportunity to continue working hard and improve themselves as we approach post-season play,” said the coach.
