MONTEZUMA – It was another one-run decision for the Bravettes.
This time it was 8-7 and Belle Plaine won, for the first time this season.
The softball game was played on Monday, June 30.
Belle Plaine led 6-2 after three innings. Montezuma battled back with two runs in the fifth, then scored two in the sixth to tie it.
Belle Plaine scored a run in the top of the seventh and then held on for its first victory in 23 tries.
Montezuma had six hits. Vivian Cook had two, including a triple and a run batted in.
Mya Smothers had one hit and two RBIs.
Chloe Snook had a hit and Leah Urfer had two hits.
Montezuma stole six bases, including two by Chloe Snook, and one each by Vivian Cook, Mya Smothers, Lily Ferry and Brielle Haughey.
The Bravettes made just two errors.
Urfer started in the circle and gave up 11 hits and 7 runs, all earned. She walked one and struck out seven.
Syd Burgess pitched 1.0 innings, yielded one run, which was earned.
She walked one.
Taylor Johnson had two hits for Belle Plaine, including a home run.
Brookelynn Henry had three hits including a triple.
Belle Plaine made five errors, but stole four bases.
Allison Argo pitched all 7 innings, gave up 7 runs, three of them earned. She walked three and struck out one.
The Bravettes stood at 5-11 after the game.
