BP reliever puts Braves on lockdown

The baseball teams from Belle Plaine and Montezuma were tied at 6-6 through four innings.

But the Plainesmen got a lockdown relief pitching performance over the final innings and put up four runs for a 10-6 victory on Wednesday, June 26.

Wade Sankot was the reliever for Belle Plaine. He pitched two innings of hitless, scoreless baseball.

Belle Plaine led 11-8 in hits.

Its a close play at second, but Jack Erselius (25) slides in ahead of the tag.

Easton Hudnut and Broox Stockman each had two hits for Montezuma.

Stockman hit a double, drove in two runs batted in and a stolen base.

Hudnut had a pair of singles.

Rett Pargeon didn’t get a hit, but was credited with two runs batted in.

Garrett Watts, Gavin Wilcox, Cruz De Jong and Dane Strong all had one hit each for the Braves.

Watts and Wilcox each added a stolen base to their totals.

It was the last regular season home game for Braves Jack Erselius, Garrett Watts and Cruz De Jong.

Strong knocked in two runs with his base hit.

Jack Erselius had two stolen bases.

Garrett Watts pitched 4 innings, giving up 3 hits, and 6 runs, two of them earned. He walked 4, struck out 7, and hit two.

Isaac Wedgewood pitched 3 innings in relief. He allowed 5 hits and 4 runs, all earned. He walked 2, struck out 3 and hit two batters.

Belle Plaine went to 9-10 with the win.

Montezuma fell to 4-11.
