NEW SHARON – What a difference a weekend and a change of scenery can make!
The Braves, who took a pounding on the inside from Lynnville-Sully just days earlier, looked like a different team in an 80-60 win at North Mahaska on Tuesday, Dec. 5.
Sharp passing and good shooting was the story in the first half, especially in the second quarter. The Braves put up 27 points in that quarter, to move a one-point first quarter lead out fo 42-27 at halftime.
The Braves added five more points on to that margin during the third quarter and cruised to the 20-point win.
Brady Boulton led the onslaught with 32 points. He shot 9-for-16 from the field, which included 5-for-10 from three-point range. To that, he added 9-for-10 from the line.
Boulton didn’t miss a triple double by much as he also had 8 assists and 8 rebounds.
Max Anderson tallied 18 points for the Braves and went 6-for-12 from behind the arc.
Garrett Watts had a 13-point scoring night on 5-for-7 shooting. He also snapped down 10 rebounds.
Alex Black had 6 rebounds for he Braves.
Montezuma shot 54 percent from the field, to 36 percent by the Warhawks. The Braves had a 36-30 edge in rebounds.
A big factor: The Braves were able to play defense without fouling. They were charged with five personals, which sent North Mashaska to the line for just three free throws, of which the Warhawks made one.
Montezuma was 14-for-19 from the line.
Asher DeBoef scored 19 points on 8-for-11 shooting for North Mahaska. He had 11 rebounds.
