Braves check all the boxes in first victory

KEOTA – The baseball Braves got the line moving and it didn’t stop until Montezuma had defeated Keota 15-8 on Friday, May 31.

It was the Braves’ first win of the season.

The Braves rapped out 12 hits – and stole 16 bases – on the way to the seven-inning win.

Montezuma got a solid pitching outing from Garrett Watts, and were guilty of just three errors.

Watts had a solid all-around game. He was 3-for-5 at the plate, with a run batted in and a run scored.

Garrett started on the mound and worked six innings, allowing 6 runs, 5 of them earned. He walked two, hit one batter and struck out four.

Luke Erselius had two hits, one of them a triple, and scored two runs.

Jack Erselius had two hits and scored a run.

Getting one hit each were:

Cruz De Jong, who scored two runs and drove one in;

Broox Stockman, who scored 3 runs and had an RBI;

Easton Hudnut, who had one hit, an RBI and scored a run;

Rett Pargeon, who scored a run and drove one in;

and Lars Taylor, who scored twice and had an RBI.

Luke Erselius and Broox Stockman each were 5-for-5 on stolen bases.

Stealing two bases each were Watts, Gavin Wilcox and Hudnut.

Isaac finished up on the mound by working the final inning. He gave up two hits and tworuns. He walked one and struck out 2.

The Braves stood at 1-4 on the year after the win.

Keota fell to 3-4.
