MONTEZUMA – Varsity and JV basketball teams from Montezuma and Green Mountain-Garwin engaged themselves in “Achieve” scrimmages on Monday, Nov. 24 at the high school.
Basically, they played under game conditions, but no official win or loss was recorded, and the points scored don’t count.
Montezuma outscored GMG 70-42 in the varsity scrimmage.
Brady Boulton scored 20 points for the Braves, and dished four assists.
Dane Strong and Talen Holland each scored 11 points. Holland grabbed six rebounds and Strong had four.
Kaden Latcham scored 8 points.
And Tommy Heemstra, a 6-4 freshman, scored six points, had seven rebounds and blocked a shot.
Other highlights: Montezuma shot .436 from the field, nailed 13 of 14 free throws, had 8 steals and owned rebounding by a 35-10 margin.
FIRST REGULAR SEASON GAME: Tuesday, Dec. 2, at North Mahaska as part of a girls/boys doubleheader.
