COLFAX – Unrelenting defensive pressure by the Montezuma Braves keyed a 65-28 victory over Colfax-Mingo on Friday night, Dec. 13.

An assortment of presses – full court man and zone, along with man-to-man coverage in the half court – had the Tigerhawks off balance from the start.

Montezuma led 20-10 after one quarter, but decided the issue for sure during a 27-3 second period.

The Braves, up 47-13 at halftime, established a continuous clock during third quarter action.

Brady Boulton led scorers with 25 points, which included an 11-for-12 performance from the free throw line. He also had 5 steals.

Max Anderson scored 12 points on 5-for-8 shooting, including one acrobatic drive where he scored while being fouled. Max also dished 3 assists and made two three-point shots.

Dane Strong was a third double figures scorer with 11 points, including a pair of three-pointers.

Montezuma shot .469 from the field and was guilty of just 7 turnovers.

The Braves also made 11 steals and had 9 deflections, which show how disruptive their defense was to the Colfax-Mingo offense. Kohen Holland contributed to that disruption with 3 blocked shots.

The win lifted the Braves to 4-1 on the season.

Colfax-Mingo fell to 1-4.
