SULLY – Some timely hitting and stolen bases helped Lynnville-Sully to a 10-0 win over Montezuma in the Braves’ baseball season opener on Monday evening, May 23.
Braves pitchers Owen Cook and Carsten James limited the Hawks to just three hits.
Lynnville-Sully took a 1-0 lead into the third inning, then broke open the game with five runs in the Hawks’ half of that frame.
Cook got the only hit for Montezuma against Hawks pitcher Conner Maston, who struck out 14 batters in six innings.
Cook was the starter on the mound for the Braves. He pitched three and one-third innings and struck out five. James thew an inning and two-thirds, striking out one.
The win took Lynnville-Sully to 2-0 on the season, including 1-0 in conference play.
