Braves golfers run with bigger dogs

MANCHESTER – Montezuma’s Class 1A golf team secured an invitation to play against some Class 2A and 3A schools, most from the WaMac Conference, on Saturday, May 6, on the Pin Oak Golf Course near Manchester.

Coach Liesl Roorda said it wasn’t the best day for the Braves, but they showed some competitive drive neverheless.

The Braves were sixth in a seven-team field. Their team score of 327 was 16 strokes behind champion Marion over 18 holes.

Cruz De Jong heads out for another round. He led the Braves with a 78.

Cruz De Jong was low for Monteuzma with a 78. The Braves may not have been super-sharp, but they were consistent.
