This Monday, May 11, 2020, MHS was to have hosted the Darrell G. Brand Relays. But COVID-19 canceled the season.

Instead here is a look at the ‘ZUMA TRACK BOYS from 1992.

Coach Jerry Rohach & his sidekick, Rich Majerus, had 30 boys out for track. They finished 2nd in the SICL meet, for the 4th year in a row, this time to a talented and very deep Williamsburg Raiders team.

The Braves won the Osky Relays and their own Monte Invite.

The 4 x 100 team of Rob Rindels, Jay Hart, Matt Benson and speedy senior Matt Cheney qualified to run in the Drake Relays.

Dave “Fly Boy” Gretz tied the school high jump record with a leap of 6’3” to share the record with former Braves high jumper Greg “Air” Fleming, MHS ‘74.

Gretz was one of three Braves to qualify for the state track meet along with Rick Thomas in the 800 & 1600 and Nathan Urfer in the 1600 and 3200 meter runs. (Photo submitted).
