Montezuma rallied with four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to force extra innings against Colfax-Mingo in varsity baseball action.

You can’t beat that for excitement.

Colfax-Mingo did beat it, though, pushing across two runs in the eighth and holding on for a 13-11 win over the Braves on Monday, June 17.

The Tigerhawks outhit the Braves 12-8, with three players each getting three hits.

Easton Hudnut shows a high finish on his swing.

Easton Hudnut and Jack Erselius had two hits each for the Braves. Both drove in one run and each stole two bases.

Cruz De Jong had one hit, an RBI and stole 5 bases.

The Braves stole 14 bases in 14 attempts. In addition to De Jong’s 5, Broox Stockman had 4 swipes.

The Braves were guilty of 4 errors.

Garrett Watts pitched 5 innings for Montezuma, giving up 8 hits and 10 runs, 8 of them earned, while walking 5 and strikingout 8.

Isaac Wedgewood pitched 3 innings,giving up 4 hits and 3 runs, 2 of them earned. He walked 3 and struck out one.

The defeat dropped the Braves to 3-8 on the season.

Colfax-Mingo’s record was 6-9.
