SULLY – “Overall, a good night again,” said Montezuma boys track coach John Beck. “We had some personal records and ran well despite the wind.”
The wind was at the Lynnville-Sully Coed Invitational, a rescheduled meet finally run on Thursday, April 13.
The Braves scored 71 points and placed fourth in an eight-team field.
Damien Knox won the 110-meter high hurdles for the Braves, and placed second in the high jump.
Knox’ 5-8 jump was his best-ever by four inches, Beck said, and his 16.72 in the high hurdles was his best and won by about three-quarters of a second, which in a relatively short race is quite a margin.
“Our relays did a better job with handoffs, but we can still get better with it as we look to cut time,” Beck said.
“Our handoffs were good in the sprint medley along with the 4×100,” Beck said. “Our 4×200 handoffs could have been better and we will continue to rep it out,” he said.
“Our distance guys competed well with most of them hitting a season personal record or overall record in either a relay split or individual time,” Beck said.
Beck said the team was looking forward to Tuesday’s appearance in front of Montezuma’s home crowd.
