NEW SHARON – We’re not sure if he threw a one-hitter or a no-hitter, but North Mahaska junior pitcher Jack Kelderman was in charge of Montezuma’s batters in an 8-2 Warhawks win over the Braves on Thursday, May 23.
The stats submitted by North Mahaska said it was a one-hitter. Montezuma’s stats said it was a no-hitter.
Not that it mattered much, because the Braves hitters couldn’t put the ball in play.
Kelderman had a bit of wildness – he walked two and hit 3 – and that allowed the Braves to steal a base and manufacture two runs.
Easton Hudnut and Broox Stockman were each credited with RBIs for Montezuma.
Lars Taylor and Jack Erselius scored the Montezuma runs. Stockman stole the base.
Kelderman worked the seven-inning distance for the win. He struck out 8.
Three Montezuma players shared pitching duties.
Easton Hudnut worked two innings, allowed one hit and three runs.
Isaac Wedgewood pitched 3 innings, yielding two hits and five runs. He struck out 3.
Rett Pargeon pitched an inning, and struck out one.
The three Montezuma hurlers issued a total of 13 bases on balls.
