The football Braves will take a major step up in quality of opponent when they visit Winfield-Mt. Union on Friday evening, Sept. 20.
The Wolves are 2-1 (to Montezuma’s 3-1) as the teams concentrated on their 7 p.m. kickoff at Winfield-Mt. Union’s all-weather turf facility.
There will be a free online audio-only livestream available at Wolvecast.com.
BCMoore Rankings has the Braves as the favorite, but by just under three points. It’s an important game for positioning in the district race.

Last year, the Wolves were 70-20 winners and had a great two-way player in Cam Buffington. He graduated, but didn’t leave the cupboard bare.
Cam has a younger brother, Cooper Buffington, who is a 6-4, 240-pound two-way tackle. He has been in on 22.0 tackles in the young season.
Returning quarterback is Jake Edwards, a 6-5, 165-pounder, who is 31-57 through the air for 562 yards and 7 touchdowns.
Edwards also leads the Wolves in rushing with 226 yards on 32 carries, 5 for touchdowns.
Top receiver is Lane Genkinger, with 13 snags for 277 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Winfield-Mt. Union opened with a 40-24 loss to WACO. Since then, they were 68-32 winners over New London and 40-28 victors over Central City.
Before last year, Montezuma had won 7 straight games over the Wolves.
